If your table extends to seat more guests, you have a couple of easy options when ordering your table protector. Both work well — it just depends how you prefer to use your table and your budget.
Option 1 – Two Separate Protectors (Neater, Premium Option)
With this method, you’ll have one complete piece for each setup — one for when your table is closed, and another for when it’s extended.
Example:
If your table measures 90cm × 180cm when closed and 90cm × 260cm when extended, you would order:
- One protector at 90cm × 180cm
- Another at 90cm × 260cm
Benefits:
- A single, seamless piece for each layout
- Looks neater and stays together better
- No joins or gaps
Considerations:
- Slightly higher cost as it uses more material
Option 2 – One Protector Cut Into Sections (Cheaper, Flexible Option)
Alternatively, you can order one protector for the full extended length and ask us to cut it into sections.
You’ll then use two pieces when the table is closed, and add the extra section when it’s extended. The pieces are not joined — they simply butt neatly up against each other on the tabletop.
Example (Rectangle Table):
Your table is 90cm × 180cm closed and 90cm × 260cm extended.
You could order:
- One protector at 90cm × 260cm, and
- Ask us (in the checkout notes) to cut it into:
- Two pieces at 90cm × 80cm each (for the closed table)
- One piece at 90cm × 100cm (added when extended)
- Total length = 260cm
Benefits:
- This option is more economical, as you only buy the material needed for one setup.
Considerations:
- Multiple pieces may move around if you do not have a tablecloth over the top.
Round Tables That Extend to Ovals
For round tables that open into an oval shape, the same logic applies.
How to Order:
Order an oval protector at the full extended size you require, then add a note at checkout explaining how to cut it up.
Example:
A 90cm round table that extends to a 90cm × 180cm oval should order a 90cm × 180cm oval protector and write in the notes:
“Cutting instructions: cut into 2 × 90cm semi-circles and 1 × 90cm × 90cm centre piece.”
Total = 180cm.
This gives you two semi-circular ends and a centre rectangle that fits between them when the table is extended.
Oval Tables That Extend Further
For oval tables that simply extend to a longer oval, we can cut the smaller oval in half and add a rectangular centre piece in the middle.
How to Order:
Order an oval protector at the full extended size and include your cutting instructions in the checkout notes.
Example:
A 90cm × 180cm oval table that extends to 90cm × 230cm should order a 90cm × 230cm oval protector and write in the notes:
“Cutting instructions: 1 × 90cm × 180cm oval in half, plus 1 × 90cm × 50cm rectangle centre piece.”
Total = 230cm.
Cutting & Measurement Notes
- We make straight, circular, and semi-circular cuts only.
- All pieces are cut accurately, though we do not guarantee millimetre precision.
- Protectors are designed to fit the tabletop surface only (not to hang over the edges).
- Currently, please add a note at checkout to tell us how you’d like your protector cut. (This process will be simplified soon!)
Maximum Width
The maximum available width for each protector is shown on the product page.
If your table is wider than this, you can still cover it neatly using two pieces placed side by side.
